Ali-inbert Winthrup Hrayton, 78 years old, 21-5 Hroadway, nationally known authority on dermatology and for almost fifty years a practicing physician in this city, died yesterday at St. Vincent's hospital. Death resulted from complications following ii fall at his home ten days before his death.

Despite, his advanced sge he continued the practice of medicine until his- injury. Funeral services will be held at the home Friday afternoon, according to tentative arrangements. Burial will be in Memorial Tark cemetery. Word is being awaited from children in Cuba and Arizona before definite arrangements are made. During his long life in Indianapolis Dr.

Hrayton knew intimately many of the men whose names have gone down in Indiana history, Including James Whitoomb Klley, Kdward Nelson, the t.utin-ollHt Dr. Harvey W. Wiley, and Dean Stanley Coulter of Purdue tini-1 I verslty. AH the older physicians and many of the younger men In the medi-sical profession iere among his friends. I Professionally Dr.

Hrayton devoted a large part of his time to a study of skin diseases and their treatment. In l'thls field of medlclnehe gained na-1 tional recognition and liyslclnns from many parts of the country brought patients to him for examination in dif-1 i ficult rases. He was graduated from the Chicago Normal school in IStlli. He attended Cornell university in I'iTI and He was graduated from Hutler university the degree of bachelor of science In 1S78. In SS0 he received the degree nf master of science from Butler university. Meanwhile he was doing work at the Indiana Medical college and In 1S7H received the degree of M. D.

From Indiana university Dr. Brayton received the degree of M. S. in 1HS2 and the Ph. D.

degree from Purdue university In 1SS.1. WAS COI.I.Kt.K PKOFFSSOK. Dr. Brayton was connected with the staff of the Indianapolis Journal from 1HH0 to 1SS. For forty-four years he was a professor In chemistry, physiology, pathology, clinical medicine, syphlology and dermatology in the Indiana medical college.

Dr. Brayton assisted many prominent physicians In obtaining their medlcat training. From R2 to ll'll he was editor of the Indiana Medical Journal. He was also associated closely with the work of the American Medical Association and for a time served ss chairman of the association's section on cutaneous medicine snd surgery, Dr. Hrayton was president of the Indiana Medical Society In HW1' and since ll12 had been active In the work of the American Iermatologleal Association.

In addition to his studies In the field of medicine, Dr. Brayton was a close student of nature and was the author of several books dealing with nature subjects. He published "Birds of Indiana" in 1S.V. The following year he wrote "Mammals of Ohio." With David Starr Jordan he wag co-author of a scientific work entitled "Fishes of the Southern Allegheny Region." MK.MBER OF CMBS. Dr.
