State To Sue Leo Scharffin Suit will be filed today against Leo Scharflin, Marion County Republican leader, by state to collect a $3,900 bill Scharffin allegedly owes for 90 tons of salvage materials he purchased a month ago at the State Penal Farm. Deputy Attorney General George W. Hadley said the suit will be filed in Marion County Superior Court. Scharfhin, colorful. ex-precinct committeeman 15th ward, the downtown "hotel ward," contends the consignment of salvage he bid on was not the same consignment he received.

Scharfhin said he offered to settle the debt for "considerably less" than $3,900, but his offer was rejected. Governor Ralph F. Gates entered the case when he ordered the attorney general's office to "collect the debt during my term of office or file suit for collection." The peppery, cigar puffing Scharffin operates a salvage firm in addition to performing political duties. New Terminal Begun By Haeckl's Express By ROBERT KELLUM Haeckl's Express, big Midwest trucking firm, has started a new $125,000 terminal here that will be a model for the industry nationally. It also will be a direct contribution to improvement of traffic routing in and around Indianapolis. Joseph F.

O'Brien, terminal manager for the company which now has local headquarters at 942 Daly Street, believes the new location-on 16 acres of ground at 3333 English Avenue will tie in exceptionally well with new truck routing plans being studied by Mayor Al Feeney. "We know that much improvement in truck routing is possible here," O'Brien said. "And we think this new development by our company is going to contribute to that end because it is away from present congested areas." Haeckl's terminal will be 475 by 300 feet, with dock space having 24 doors. There will be a large garage and office building. Drivers and dock workers will have the very latest in accommodations, such as recreation room, showers and similar facilities.

Since Haeckl's, which has been going since 1918, overnight service to Cincinnati. Chicago, Hamilton Dayton, Columbus, Springfield and other points, it expects to save at least a half hour on running time with the new terminal away from the more central traffic of Indianapolis. Other cities are developing the belt routes for trucking and firm looks for much more along this line here in the next few years to provide better handling of the heavy hauling. The firm is making sites available to other carriers on the 16 acres, if they care to acquire them, so that a center for this type of business is in prospect.
