Mrs. Louis Dies; Cily Court Aide Mrs.xBertha Louis, 69 years old, 54 North Sherman Drive, a long-time Indianapolis policewoman, died yesterday in Community Hospital. A life resident here, Mrs. Louis had been a member of the Police Department 17 years. For the last 12 years she had been psychiatric aide for Municipal Court.

FUNERAL arrangements are pending at Shirley Brothers Irving Hill Chapel. Survivors include five daughters, Ralph Bader, Mrs. Charles Strange and Mrs. Louis Kenworthy, all of Indianapolis, Mrs. Al Blanken-baker and Mrs.

Robert Dixon, both of Richmond; two sons, Roy E. Louis of Indianapolis Mrs. Ruth Tevi Spencer, long active in musical circles and manager of the St. Regis Apartments, 14th and Pennsylvania Streets, died yesterday in Memorial Clinic. Born at Columbus, she had resided here 55 years.

Mrs. Spencer, daughter of the late Virgil W. Tevis, well-known Methodist minister, was music director of the Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation 27 years. She later was soloist at Memorial Presbyterian, Central Christian and and Frank M. Louis of Calves-ton, two sisters, Mrs.

Beck Succumbs On Farm Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Flanner and Buchanan Fall Creek Mortuary, for Johnse Harrison Beck, 68 years old, who died Tuesday at his farm, R.R.

12, Indianapolis. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery Mr. Beck, former vice-president of the George F. Cram Company, switched to grain and livestock growing on his farm near McCordsville where he resided 19 years. He was born near Hale, attended college at Brown-wood, and was graduated from William Jewell College, Liberty, Mo.

He resided in Indianapolis 31 years before moving to his farm, and was associated with the Cram company 25 years. Mr. Beck was a member of the First Baptist Church of Indianapolis and the Hancock County Farm Bureau. Survivors include a son, Bernard Harrison Beck, a sophomore at the University of Arizona, and a sister, Mrs. Lulu Steward of Kansas City, Mo.

Smock, Ex-Rail Union Officer, Dies James C. Smock, 84 years old, 1021 Churchman Avenue, a former national railroad union officer, died yes-v terday in the home of a son here.

Born in Shel-. by County, he had resided here 60 years. Mr. Smock was employed many years by the New York Central Railroad and at one time was assistant supervisor of building's and bridges. He i was national vice-president of I the Railroad Maintenance Un-i ion five years.

He later was employed in the Veterans Administration offices before retiring in 1932. He returned to work in 1942 I and was employed in the mail- ing division of Lane-Bryant Inc. before retiring in 1955. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in J.

W. Wilson i Chapel of the Chimes, with burial at Linden. Survivors include three sons, Sidney 0., Charles W. and Walter H. Smock, all of In- dianapolis; one daughter, Mrs.

Roberta Kraft of Indianapolis, nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Emerson White Dies; Ex-Block's Executive Emerson A. White, a retired William H. Block Company section manager, died day in Fayette Memorial Hospital at Connersville. He was 68 years old.

Mr. White resided at 927 Brand Street and spent much of his time in his family home near Brookville, where he suffered a stroke May 6. i He was a member of Blooming Grove Methodist Church and Batesville Masonic Lodge. T. Degener, 79 years old, 1641 Winton Avenue, Speedway, a native of Germany, died yesterday in Methodist Hospital. Mr. Degener came to Indianapolis when he was, 3. He was employed eight years by Kipp Brothers Before retiring in 1953.

Before that he was custodian at Speedway High School and grade school 15 years. He was a member of St. Luke's United Church of Christ, Modern Redmen of America, and Marion County Fish and Game Association. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Conkle Speedway Funeral Home, with burial in Crown Hill Cemetery.

Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Katherine D. Dege ner; a son, Karl F. Degener, and two daughters, Mrs. Dorothea W.
