Smock, Ex-Rail Union Officer, Dies James C. Smock, 84 years old, 1021 Churchman Avenue, a former national railroad union officer, died yesterday in the home of a son here. Born in Shelby County, 1 he had resided here 60 years. Mr. Smock was employed many years.

Smock, all of Indianapolis; one daughter, Mrs. Roberta Kraft of Indianapolis, nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Emerson White Dies; Ex-Block's Executive Emerson A. White, a retired William H. Block Company section manager, died yesterday in Fayette Memorial Hospital at Connersville.

He was 68 years old. Mr. White resided at 927 Brand Street and spent much of his time in his family home near Brookville, where he suffered a stroke May 6. He was a member of Blooming Grove Methodist Church and Batesville Masonic Lodge. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m.

Saturday in Clevenger Funeral Home at Brookville, with burial in Maple Grove Cemetery there. Surviving is the widow, Mrs. Mae White. Mrs. Andrew W.

Grow Mrs. Mattie C. Grow, 77 years old, died yesterday in her home at 455 North Centennial Street. She had been ill seven years. Mrs.

Grow was born in Jennings County and resided here 56 years. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in J. C. Wilson Chapel of the Chimes, with burial in Garland Brook Cemetery.

Survivors include the husband, Andrew W. Grow; a son Willard A. Grow and a sister, Jane Thurston, both of Indianapolis, five grandchiland four great grandchildren. Reynolds Head Dies Williamsport, Va. (UPI) F.

Succumbs On Farm Funeral services be: at will 10 a.m. Saturday in Flanner and Buchanan Fall Creek Mortuary, for Johnse Harrison Beck, 68 years old, who died Tuesday at his farm, R.R. 12, Indianapolis. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery. Mr.

Beck, former vice-president of the George F. Cram Company, switched to grain and livestock on his farm McCordsville where he resided 19 years. He was born near Hale, attended college at Brownwood, and was graduated from William Jewell College, Liberty, Mo. He resided in Indianapolis 31 years before moving to his farm, and was associated with the Cram company 25 years. Mr.

Beck was a member of the First Baptist Church of Indianapolis and the Hancock County Farm Bureau. Survivors include a son, Harrison Beck, a sophomore at the University of Arizona, and a sister, Mrs. Lulu Steward of Kansas City, Mo. William C. T.

Degener William C. T. Degener, 79 years old, 1641 Winton Avenue, Speedway, a native of Germany, died yesterday in Methodist Hospital. Mr. Degener came to Indianapolis when he was 3.

He was employed eight years by Kipp Brothers Before retiring in 1953. Before that he was custodian at Speedway High School and grade school 15 years. He was a member of St. Luke's United Church of Christ, Modern Redmen of America, and Marion County Fish and Game Association. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m.

Saturday in Conkle Speedway Funeral Home, with burial in Crown Hill Cemetery. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Katherine D. Degener; a son, Karl F. Degener, and two daughters, Mrs.

Dorothea W. Lines and Mrs. F. Treadway, all of Indianapolis; four sisters, Mrs. Barnhart, Mrs.

Emma Ludington, Mrs. Flora Wheatley and Mrs. Martha Lich, all of Indianapolis, five grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren, Mrs. Mary McClellan Mrs. Mary Francis McClellan, 40 years old, 1862 Milburn Street, once a cashier at the Indiana Theater, died yesterday in her home.
