Bennie Presswood Charles McCormack 76, of Indianapolis, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2011. He was born November 27, 1934 in Velpen to the late Blythe and Esta McCormack. Charles was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and retired from Chrysler. He was a member of Acton United Methodist Church and of the Englewood Masonic Lodge.

Charles is survived by his wife, Barbara (Claridge) McCormack; sons, Michael and Steven (Robin) McCormack; daughter, Robin Austin; brother, Bob (Doris) McCormack; sisters, Delores Wessel, Virginia Winters and Roseanna Abercrom-bie; brother-in-law, Gene Bauer; and grandchildren, Brooke, Jaida and Caitlyn. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Ruth, Anita, Betty and Jessie. Memorial Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 17, 2011 at Acton United Methodist Church. He later worked for Budget Rent-A-Car for ten years. In addition, he was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 3899. Mr. Morris proudly served in the Merchant Marines during World War II and was a member of the Mooresville American Legion Post 103. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Lee (Miles) Morris; a son, Thomas Morris and seven siblings.

Survivors include his sons, Pat Morris (Krista) and Bill Morris (Girlie); daughter, Denise Williams (George); sisters, Gladys Heady and Frances Pierson; daughter in law, Julie Morris; 9 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren. She was born on Janu i ary 12, 1919, in Indianapolis, A Cora (Dietz) and Henry L. Schleiter. Barbara graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1936. In 1938, she married Rowland Palmer McCloskey, who preceded her in death. They were married for 50 years and had one daughter, Cynthia.

Barbara worked as a bookkeeper, lab technician, and office manager and retired with her husband from their business, Finishing Systems Corporation, in 1974. Barbara was a life-long member of Geth-semane Lutheran Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, Council Member, member of the Women's Missionary Society and Ladies Aid Society and the Gethsemane Retirees. She enjoyed meeting all the new members of the church and welcoming all the regular members each Sunday during coffee hour. Barbara was a member of the Lutheran Child and Family Services Guild, Community Hospital Guild, and the ISO Women's Auxiliary, East Group. She served as an officer in the PTAs at both IPS School 58 and Thomas Carr Howe High School.

Barbara enjoyed traveling and spending time with her grandchildren. She was an avid letter-writer, card player, and pie baker and a devoted neighbor and friend. Barbara never met a stranger and found good in every person. Also preceding Barbara in death were her grandson, Gary Stephen Deeter; brother, John Schleiter; cousins, Richard Dietz and John "Jack" Dietz; and her beloved aunt, Bernice Dietz. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Gary Deeter; granddaughters, Linda Chase, Susan Evans, Elizabeth Smith (Bret), and Jennifer Deeter; nine greatgrandchildren; and her sister, Frances Whalin.

She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and cherished friends. Visitation will be Wednesday, today, April 13, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Irving Hill Chapel, 5377 E. Washington St.

Patricia Lorraine McCombs of Indianapolis, died April 7, 2011 at her daughter Natalie's home in Maricopa, Arizona after a long, courageous battle against cancer. Born on February 8, 1947 in Luton, England, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Rubena Currant Surviving are daughters, Lorraine Raschiatore of Odenton, Maryland; Rae Clark of Soldotna, Alaska; and Natalie Guarnery of Maricopa, Arizona; also grandchildren, Haley and Haydn of Odenton and Jack and Patrick of Maricopa; and brothers, Wally and Fred Currant of England.

Shandra Wallace Skipper 41, died on Monday, April 11, 2011. Shandra had a very loving heart and will be missed by many friends and family.

He was a 1944 graduate of Arsenal Technical High School and faithfully served in the United States Navy during World War II. Robert retired as a supervisor in 1989 from Indianapolis Power Light after 42 years of service. He was a member of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church in Parrish, Florida, a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and Past President of the Colony Cove 3 I Club in Ellenton, Florida. Walford is survived by his wife, Rita Marie Eckman Walford; his children, Deborah Brough, Robert Jr. (Linda), Gregory, and Jeffrey; his brothers, Edward T. Walford and John Salmon; his grandchildren, Natalie, Whitney, Colin, and Jordan. Kernel 80, of Indianapolis and Naples, FL died on Sunday, April 10, 2011. He was born on May 28, 1930 in Indianapolis to the late Dr. Paul and Agnes Kernel. Dr. Kernel was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years Mary Joan Frigge Kernel.

Dr. Kernel grew up in Irvington and was a graduate of Cathedral High School. He received his doctorate of Optometry from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis after studying at Notre Dame, Butler, Indiana and Purdue Universities. He was a member of the National Honor Society of Optometry and a member of the Indiana State Board of Optometry. He also participated in the Knights of Columbus.

He was a friend to many, a faithful Catholic, and a member of St. Finbarr Church in Naples, Florida. Dr. Kernel was also preceded in death by his brother, Karl Kernel; and sister, Maureen Matthews. Survivors include Dorothy Zehner, devoted companion and care giver; six children, Paul V.

He was born July 22, 1934, in Green-castle, Indiana, to the late Walter Raymond Jr. and Elsie (Culley) Reeves. An avid wood-worker and quilter, he retired from Eli Lilly after working as a Lab Technician for 35 years.

Sherman brought joy to the lives of many children by being a professional clown. He also worked at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for 44 years. An active member at Zion Evangelical, he served as a board and choir member at the church. He also taught Sunday school and both he and his wife, Charlene, were Youth Sponsors. Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Charlene A.

(Smock) Reeves; children, Chuck (Debbie) Reeves and Emily Reeves; two granddaughters, Heather and Kelly Reeves; brother, Jim Reeves; sister, Jane McCullough; and many well-loved nieces, nephews, and cousins. His sisters, Dorothy Hall and Nancy Sutherlin, preceded him in death.
