23. Mr. Loomis worked 42 years for Indiana Bell Telephone retiring in 1962 as assistant vice president of the personnel department. A native of South Bend, he spent four years on the New York stage before coming to Indianapolis in 1930. He appeared in more than 40 plays at the Chic Theatre.

Active off stage as well, he had served the theater as president and treasurer and was named honorary chairman of the board. Mr. Loomis was a member of Second Presbyterian Church, the Columbia Club, Telephone Pioneers of America and the KendalMle (Ind.) Masonic Lodge. He had also served 20 years on Marion County Draft Board 49. He was an Army veteran of World War I.

A 1920 graduate of Indiana University, he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and was past president of the IU Alumni Association. He was the widower of Joyce Smith Loomis.
