Sunday night in the nation's capital, the world's No. 1 player completed easiest match to date against Gilbert. Vincent Hospital, was a Rector Scholar at DePauw University, of which he was a graduate. He received a master's degree from Ball State University. He started his 43-year career in education in Olney, 111., where he was a math teacher four years. In 1933. he returned to his Randolph County hometown of Modoc to teach and to coach basketball, football and baseball.

Sharp was named principal at Modoc High School in 1948. When the school was merged with others in the county, he became principal of the consolidated Union Township School, a post he held three years. Sharp had been president of the Randolph County Athletic Association and the Randolph County Principals Association. He was a charter member and former president of the Union Township Lions Club. In 1960.

he moved to Beech Grove, where he was a math teacher at Beech Grove High School. In 1966 he was named director of guidance. He retired in 1973. Active in civic affairs. Sharp helped organize the Beech Grove blood drive and was a member of the Senior Citizens Club and Beech Grove Lions Club, where he was a former secretary.

He was a trustee and secretary of the board of Beech Grove United Methodist Church. He had been a member of the Indiana State Teachers Association, the National Education Association and the Indiana Per-sonnel and Guidance Association.
